A tragic incident unfolded in Koforidua when a 26-year-old man, Godwin Darko, allegedly killed his 23-year-old girlfriend, Felicia Abena Oparebea, during a heated argument over an aborted pregnancy. The shocking crime has left the community in shock and disbelief. The suspect has been apprehended and appeared in court for the commencement of legal proceedings.
According to the prosecution’s revelations during the suspect’s first appearance at the Koforidua Magistrate Court “A,” Godwin Darko stabbed his girlfriend multiple times on the neck, resulting in her immediate death.

The altercation reportedly arose from his questioning of why the deceased terminated a pregnancy without his consent. The incident occurred at Trom Junction -5 in Koforidua on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
After the gruesome act, the suspect allegedly confided in his mother, Nana Dede Klottey, who happens to be a Queen mother of Suhum Nifa Ankobea. Recognizing the severity of the situation, she took her son to the police station to report himself. The swift action of the suspect’s mother led to his apprehension and subsequent legal proceedings.
During the court appearance, the prosecutor, Sergeant George Defia, requested that the suspect be remanded to allow the police to conduct further investigations.
This includes the search for the weapon used in the crime. The Court, presided over by Her Honour Nana Ama Dabbah Fynn, granted the request and adjourned the case to July 4, 2023.
