About 25 people who ate during the funeral in Agou at Nkwanta South in Oti Region have been hospitalized, receiving treatment for food poisoning on Sunday, 14th May 2023.
According to report, a 50-year-old woman who took part in the cooking process during the funeral rites used the foods for testing her drugs supposed to be poison.
According to her, she wanted to know whether the drug could kill or not.
The sad incident was discovered after people started vomiting red substances after taking in various foods at the funeral.
The organizers called a pastor to pray if the situation has any spiritual backing.
After the prayers, the said 50-year-old woman confessed she is the one who caused the mishap by using the foods to test her supposed poison.
According to an Angel FM reporter, the old lady wanted to know whether her poison prepared could kill or not.
Several people were reported at a hospital.
A follow-up indicates 25 of them are in a critical situation as medical officers double up to save their lives.
The report says the woman has been arrested by the police.
