Lawyer Abubakar Nurideen Kotia Bitis, Personal Aide and Administrative Assistant to the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, has reiterated the minister’s unwavering commitment to creating decent jobs for Ghana’s youth.

In an interview with Wa-based Radio Progress, the minister’s aide stressed that the ministry is open to all Ghanaians regarding job searches, regardless of political or ethnic affiliation. He highlighted the ministry’s high level of activity, stating that it receives an average of 100 visitors on a dedicated visiting day and not less than 50 visitors on a typical working day, all demonstrating the ministry’s commitment to solving labor and employment problems.

Lawyer Nurideen added that due to the high unemployment rate in the country and the demand for labor abroad, the minister is shifting his attention towards the labor migration project through the “Work Abroad Programme.” This initiative, he explained, is designed to facilitate the export of skilled and unskilled Ghanaian labor to Europe, the UAE, and other parts of the world.

Emphasizing the minister’s commitment to ensuring Ghanaians can labor in dignity, Kotia Bitis expressed concern over reported inhumane treatment of some Ghanaian workers abroad, particularly in Arab countries. He revealed that a proposal for labor export from an Arab country was recently turned down by the minister.

“Not under Dr. Rashid Pelpuo’s regime as Minister for Labour will Ghanaian labor be subjected to inhumane treatment in any part of the world,” Nurideen Bitis affirmed.

He concluded by advising Ghanaians seeking to work outside the country to regularize their travel through the Ministry of Labour. This, he noted, would ensure the ministry is positioned to provide assistance in times of need.
