On February 15, 2025, the Sissala Community in Wa, Upper West Region, celebrated the enskinment of Kuoro Braimah Issah Balu III as Sissala community chief in W.
The newly enskinned chief is a 75-year-old retired Court Registrar from the Judicial Service with worth of experience in local governance and chieftaincy.
The event, marked by colorful displays of culture and tradition, saw the attendance of prominent dignitaries, including Paramount Chiefs and divisional Chiefs from the Sissala areas, alongside Wa Naa representatives and other members of the community.
The Paramount Chief of Gwollu, Kuoru Bajor Limann V, delivered an enskinment message through his representative, Kuoru Abdu-Rahman Baatah IV, urging the newly enskinned chief to serve with humility, wisdom, and dedication. He emphasized the role of chieftaincy as a powerful tool for fostering peace, unity, and progress within the community.
In his acceptance speech, Kuoro Braimah Issah Balu III expressed heartfelt gratitude to the traditional authorities and the Sissala Community for trusting him with the leadership role. He pledged to prioritize peace, unity, and development and called on all members of the community to work together for a harmonious coexistence. He also underscored the importance of forging stronger bonds with the Wa Naa and other ethnic groups in the Wa Municipality for a prosperous future.
Guest of honor for the occasion, Alhaj Amidu Suleman, former Upper West regional Minister, eulogized Kuoru Braimah Issah Balu III for his kindness and humility. Alhaj Amidu also thanked Wa Naa for his kindness and the cordial relationship with the Sissala people in Wa over the years. He urged the Sissala Community to support the new Chief financially to enable him to deliver his mandate.
