The John Dramani Mahama-led government has officially appointed Prof. Ransford Edward Gyampo as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA).

Prof. Gyampo, a distinguished academic from the University of Ghana’s Political Science Department, assumes the position, succeeding Kwesi Baffour Sarpong, who was appointed by the Akufo-Addo administration in December 2023.

Prof. Gyampo’s appointment was confirmed through a formal letter delivered by Dr. Calistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President. Sources reveal that Mr. Sarpong has been instructed to immediately handover responsibilities to Prof. Gyampo.

Born on March 31, 1977, in Accra, Prof. Gyampo brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Ghana Shippers Authority. He is a Professor of Political Science and the Founding Director of the Centre for European Studies at the University of Ghana. With over two decades of experience in academia, Prof. Gyampo’s leadership is expected to bring valuable insights to the GSA and its ongoing efforts to improve Ghana’s shipping and maritime industry.
