Lawyer Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah has been appointed by president John Dramani Mahama as the acting executive director of Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) after serving as Deputy Executive Director, Operations for almost two years
Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah Esq joined EOCO as Assistant Controller/Assistant Staff Officer in August 1998 and rose through the ranks to Deputy Chief Staff Officer. Abdulại Dapilah Esq. assumes his new role with deep knowledge in investigations having served as Regional Director for Northern, Sunyani (Bono) and Upper West Regions.
He also headed the Analysis, Special Investigative and the Organised Crime Units at the Head Office until his elevation as the Acting Executive Director.. He has served on numerous committees including Committee on Law Enforcement Agencies and Banking Communities, Bank of Ghana, Revenue Assurance Compliance Enforcement (RACE), Ministry of Finance and Import Declaration Forms Audit Committee (IDF) and Ghana Revenue Authority.
The decision, made in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 11(1) of the Economic and Organised Crime Act, 2010 (Act 804), is pending the constitutionally required advice of EOCO’s Governing Board in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah replaces Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah and is expected to bring his expertise to bear on the strategic operations of EOCO, ensuring effective enforcement of the law and strengthening the fight against organised crime.
