On New Year’s Day 2025, the Sagu Yipaala Connect Homecoming second edition took center stage, drawing a large crowd from all walks of life, including Sagir in the diaspora who returned home to celebrate their rich cultural heritage. This annual event is a vibrant celebration that fosters unity and love while promoting the cultural values of the Sagu community.
The Sagu Yipaala Connect is designed to bring people together, both locally and from abroad, to reconnect with their roots and contribute to the development of the community. The event’s main goal is to promote cultural preservation and community progress through shared experiences and collective action.
The event was marked by spectacular cultural dances, showcasing the traditional rhythms and movements that define the Sagu people. The Guest of Honour for the event, Honorable A. Walid Jnr., who doubles as Assemblyman for the area , took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the chiefs and elders of the Sagu community for their unwavering support. He praised their leadership and commitment to unity, which has been essential in the development of the area.
Honorable A. Walid Jnr. also reflected on his achievements in his first year as Assemblyman. He thanked key NGOs such as Card Ghana, Vibrant Village, Plan Ghana, and the Wa Municipal Assembly for their unflinching support in alleviating the challenges faced by the people of Sagu. He highlighted ongoing and completed projects that have had a significant impact on the community, and assured the people of his continued dedication to improving their lives.
