Hajia Reyana Bin Salih, the spouse of the Upper East Regional Minister, has handed over a newly built single room with washrooms to a widow in Wa-Zongo, located in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region. This gesture is part of her ongoing efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable members of society.
The widow, identified as the wife of the late security man for Wa Model JHS whom was murdered few months ago, had been living in a dilapidated building that was unfit for human habitation. Her late husband was tragically murdered in a ritual killing, leaving her without a source of support. Since his death, she had been seeking refuge in the deteriorating building, which was in such poor condition that parts of it had collapsed, and the roof leaked heavily.
The dire situation of this widow was first highlighted by a reportage from Homeradio, which captured the shocking living conditions of the woman. The story touched the heart of Hajia Reyana Bin Salih, who was moved by the widow’s suffering and felt compelled to act.
Hajia Reyana, despite limited resources, initiated a project to build a new home for the widow. The project began a few months ago, and she worked tirelessly, gathering the necessary resources to complete it. Today, with only a few final touches left, the house was officially handed over to the widow in a small ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Asprilla, the manager of Homeradio Limited, Sheikh Ahmed, Mr. Bahass of Bahass Foundation, and Hajia Reyana Bin Salih. Speaking to the media during the handover, Hajia Reyana explained her motivation for the project, stating, “I embarked on this project not because I am wealthy, but because it is a call to serve society. Her husband was probably the one to build a house for her, but unfortunately, he was murdered. We don’t need to be wealthy to help society.”
This home is just the tip of the iceberg of the numerous humanitarian interventions that Hajia Reyana Bin Salih has been involved in. Her commitment to supporting vulnerable communities is well-known, and this project is yet another example of her ongoing efforts to make a positive impact on society..
The widow, who has endured so much hardship, was visibly emotional as she received the keys to her new home, which will provide her with a safe and secure place to live. This act of compassion will undoubtedly change her life for the better and inspire others to contribute to the welfare of their communities.
