Nandom Nursing and Midwifery Training College, a public institution dedicated to training future healthcare professionals, has successfully matriculated 128 fresh ladies into its Diploma in Midwifery program for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The matriculation ceremony, held on November 15, 2024, was a colorful event graced by dignitaries from the Ghana Health Service, the clergy, and corporate organizations. The college lecture hall served as the venue for this milestone event, marking the formal enrollment of students into the institution.

Originally beginning as a Post-NAP program institution, Nandom Nursing and Midwifery Training College has evolved significantly. Currently , it offers a Diploma in Midwifery and is in the advanced stages of launching a Registered General Nursing (RGN) program.

During the event, the college’s principal, Ms. Barbara Sagbil Nabia, highlighted the institution’s academic achievements, particularly its excellent performance in both KNUST and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) examinations over the years.

While celebrating the college’s successes, Ms. Nabia expressed concerns over significant infrastructural deficits that limit the institution’s ability to admit more students. She emphasized the urgent need for hostels, lecture halls, and an auditorium to enhance the academic experience.

“We are proud of the academic milestones we have achieved over the years , but our infrastructural challenges constrain us from doing even more. We appeal to the government and corporate organizations to come to our aid,” she stated.

Addressing the newly admitted students, Ms. Barbara urged them to rise above the challenges posed by the infrastructure deficit and focus on their academic responsibilities.

“You are here to light a candle of hope for society,” she admonished. “Work hard to instill trust in the noble profession you have chosen and prove that you can excel despite the odds.”

The Nandom Nursing and Midwifery Training College continues to grow as a center of excellence in healthcare education. With plans underway for the introduction of the RGN program, the institution is poised to expand its impact on healthcare delivery in Ghana.

The matriculation ceremony ended on a high note, with dignitaries, staff, and students expressing optimism for the future of the institution and the new cohort of students.
