Nurideen Abdul Ganiu, alias Anelka, has been granted bail by the Wa District Court on 27th August 2024. The suspect whom surrendered himself to the police after fleeing several arrest attempts from the police faces serious charges related to the alleged ritual killings of three individuals.

Is worth mentioning that, for the past few weeks, the Wa district court have not found any concrete evidence backing the accusations hence the decision to grant him bail upon request from his lawyers.

The court’s decision does not equate to an acquittal, and Abdul-Ganiu is required to report to the police on a weekly basis as the trial progresses.

Case Background:

Nurideen Abdul-Ganiu, a 39-year-old trader, has been charged with the unlawful deaths of Kobina Biengu, Taasung Osman Sumani, and Richard Kwesi Poku. These serious allegations have sent shockwaves through the Wa Municipality, with many closely following the case’s developments.

The case was initially brought before the District Court on Wednesday, July 23, 2024, under the supervision of Mr. Maxwell Titriku. During the proceedings, Ganiu was remanded in prison custody, and the case was adjourned to August 8, 2024, for further hearings.

The charges against Ganiu stem from a dramatic series of events on July 19, 2024, when he was pursued by military intelligence. Ganiu was first spotted driving his Tundra V8 and attempted to evade capture, leading to a high-speed chase through various areas, including the Merry Land drinking spot and Mangu, a suburb of Wa.

Despite multiple efforts by the military to apprehend him, Ganiu managed to escape. He eventually fled to his home in Kumbiehi, where he abandoned his vehicle and disappeared from the scene. He later surrendered to the police on July 22, 2024.

The case has drawn significant public interest due to the serious nature of the allegations, and the community remains keenly invested in the outcome of the trial. Ganiu’s release on bail comes with strict conditions, ensuring his continued cooperation with the ongoing legal process.
