Alhaji Mustapha Goveir, the former Regional Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been appointed as the Regional Coordinator for the District Road Improvement Program (DRIP) in the Upper West Region. In this new role, Goveir will oversee the management of DRIP machines and road infrastructure projects across the region’s 11 districts.

The District Road Improvement Program (DRIP) is a key initiative of President Akufo-Addo’s administration, which has prioritized infrastructure as a cornerstone of national development. Over the past four years, the President has emphasized the importance of robust infrastructure in his State of the Nation Addresses and budget presentations, laying the foundation for the DRIP-2024 initiative.

DRIP-2024 is designed to address the urgent need for road maintenance and construction within Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs). The program aims to equip these local authorities with cutting-edge equipment and provide technical training to enhance their capacity for maintaining and constructing roads.

The initiative is expected to significantly improve road quality and connectivity, leading to better access to essential services, markets, and economic opportunities in the region.

A significant aspect of DRIP-2024 is its potential to create approximately 4,480 direct jobs. These jobs, which include roles for operators, mechanics, support staff, and management, will provide crucial employment opportunities, particularly for the youth. Furthermore, the program will offer extensive training in mechanical engineering, hydraulic systems, and electronic systems diagnosis, ensuring that the workforce is well-equipped to maintain and operate the new equipment.

As the DRIP Coordinator for the Upper West Region, Alhaji Mustapha Goveir will play a vital role in ensuring the successful implementation of this ambitious infrastructure program, driving progress in road development and contributing to the overall economic growth of the region.
